CyberUnite join Quantum Software PhD School

Oisin Watkins, a PhD candidate in CyberUnite, recently attended the Quantum Software Engineering PhD school in Spain and talks through his experience:

"Quantum Software Engineering (QSE) is a field of research that has co-existed with Quantum Computing since the early 2000's. It involves the use of sound engineering principles for the development, operation and maintenance of quantum software.

Recent works in the space have included discussions about the need for updated practices in software testing and version control for quantum software, as well as analysis into the types of problems that are best suited to being solved by quantum computers.

The first QSE PhD school was hosted in May 2026 in Jarandilla de la Vera, Spain, organised by Juan Manuel Murillo, Professor of Computer Science at University of Extremadura. This course was designed to meet dual purposes: to educate young researchers in the state of the art in QSE practices, and to share current and upcoming research among labs and companies interested in QSE from all around the world."
