    After receiving my PhD. from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology in India,. I was a Post-Doc Researcher at University of Padua, Italy from 2017-2021.

    My main research interests include security and privacy in cyber physical systems, IoT and autonomous vehicle.

    In the CyberUnite project, I am interested in designing anomaly detection techniques and integrating machine learning techniques to automate the anomaly detection procedure for defending sophisticated attacks.

    I come from a core cyber security background, with experience in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing across web, Android, and network environments.

    For my master’s thesis, I explored the synergies between AI and cyber security, which deepened my interest in this domain and motivated me to work with Cyber Unite.

  • Ayesha Azam, University of Limerick

    I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from UET Lahore, Pakistan, where my research spanned large language models, generative AI, and machine learning across domains such as healthcare and education.

    I want to understand how AI can be made trustworthy, accountable, and aligned with real-world regulatory demands.

    I am now pursuing using AI and intelligent agents to automate compliance assessment and strengthen cybersecurity processes.

  • Oisin Watkins, University of Limerick

    Prior to the CyberUnite project, I was researching Quantum Algorithms in Portland State University.

    During my time there we noticed that the current roadmap for quantum computing infrastructure, places quantum computers in the same position as current distributed computing infrastructure; shared central nodes for multiple users across a variety of sectors.

    In understanding this, we realised that there was a significant gap in the research regarding the root of trust in current the quantum computing paradigm. This gap is the main focus of my research, and is why I joined CyberUnite.

  • Ioana Macovei, Munster Technological University

    My background combines cognitive science, IT and cybersecurity research, which has given me a strong foundation in both technical and human aspects of cybersecurity.

    I am especially interested in research that looks beyond the tools and considers cognition, decision-making and analyst performance in SOC environments.

    This project is a strong fit with my PhD interests and gives me the opportunity to contribute to practical, relevant cybersecurity research.

  • Dr. Tharindu Ranathunga, Munster Technological University

    With a PhD focused on DLT-based trust frameworks for IoT ecosystems, I was drawn to Ireland's position as CyberUnite offered the perfect alignment between my expertise in cyber-physical systems security, decentralised architectures, trustworthy AI with the project's mission to protect critical infrastructure.

    My background in federated learning, zero-trust architectures and agentic AI complements CyberUnite's research pillars of resilient cyber-physical systems, explainable security, and digital twin-based threat simulation.

  • Kavishka Fernando, Munster Technological University

    During my academic journey in Agentic AI, I realized that autonomous AI technologies are advancing rapidly and we must learn to use them before they are used for attacking essential workflows like critical infrastructure.

    The Cyber Unite project especially stood out to me because of its focus on protecting cyber-physical systems, and I hope my research will deliver the impact needed to keep our essential critical infrastructure resilient.

  • Naim Reza, University College Cork

    I received my Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Chosun University, South Korea, where my works mainly focused on optimization of DNNs for building robust vision models applied in security applications like fingerprint based biometric authentication systems.

    My previous work experience and eagerness to improve the security of AI models to tackle the emerging threats posed by current and evolving field of AI, leads me join the CyberUnite project.

  • Seán Óg Murphy, University College Cork

    My research interests include public safety, security, cyber-physical systems and simulation.

    In my previous work I have dealt with emergency evacuation simulation, UAV search-and-rescue, public health expert systems, energy use optimisation, smart facility modeling and security, cyberattack/malware analysis and zero-trust systems.

    My research focuses on post-quantum cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies, particularly improving their performance and efficiency for real-world applications.

    For CyberUnite, I look forward to focusing on securing cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure, as well as its strong emphasis on cross-border collaborative cybersecurity research.
